Midnight Muse

Midnight Muse, Blues and rock band came into being at the end of the Covid times starting as a two piece With Mick O’leary on guitar and Brigid Broekhoven on vocals. It was the first time either had played with another musician for about two years due to Covid restrictions. Both came from the blues tradition and previous Blues acts.

 

Mick O’Leary has been a guitarist and blues player for many years. Playing in the Rock band Mercury in 1980’s Dublin through several bands and genres to the 18 year run of his Dublin Blues band Travellin’ South 1997-2015 when they played in the Irish Blues Club in the much missed J.J Smyth’s venue and many other Blues venues in Dublin and around the country.

 

Brigid Broekhoven is a fine Blues/Rock vocalist in a sort of Janis Joplin/Tina Turner type of vein. Brigid has taken her Blues from USA to a two year run in Scotland and re-started her singing career in 2021  with Midnight Muse and has proved very popular with audiences in and around Dublin since. Brigid has recently completed a vocal studies course in Dublin’s BIMM Music college.

 

Dave O’Connor (Widely known as Doc)has played bass in many Genres over the last 30 years in Dublin including the recently revived New wave/Power pop band Powerwave. Dave also played as dep bassist with Travellin’ South and is well versed in the blues genre and many others.

 

George Humphrey is a well known drummer. From his early Days playing in the Red House band in Raheny through touring Europe as Drummer for Irish Blues Artist Eamonn McCormack and more recently as a member of popular band The Cutbacks, George has the chops and is a perfect fit in Midnight Muse.
