Ronan Byrne

Ronan Byrne founding member, guitarist and songwriter with Dublin band Lir is now currently playing solo and also with his bands Earthquake Hair and Weedway, Earthquake Hair being more indie rock style and weedway more reggae/ska both original bands with a highly unique sound. In a career spanning over three decades he has been involved in releasing seven albums and two EPs, has written several songs for soundtracks including the theme tune to "I went down" starring Brendan Gleeson and only recently was involved in the new Hollywood movie "power ballad" starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas of the Jonas brothers. He has also had 2 songs accepted by the film’s director for his next Hollywood project produced by Lionsgate.

 

Ronan has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe and played all the main venues in Ireland including the 3 arena on several occasions including the vibe for philo on the 10th anniversary of his passing.  Ronan was instrumental in initially launching the vibe for philo with Smiley Bolger performing at it  from its infancy.

 

He is kept busy regularly gigging and recording and has performed at  a lot of the major festivals in Ireland including several appearances at the Electric Picnic.
