Roscó Flanagan

The ROOTS & BLUES BARSTOOL @Wrights-Findlater

Sun Aug 9th at 1pm - FREE

Roscó Flanagan is an Irish singer-songwriter and guitarist breathing new life into early Delta and country blues. Rooted in the raw honesty of pre-war recordings, his music blends traditional forms with a modern awareness-neverover-polished, always authentic and present.

Roscó’s current work leans toward stripped-back, acoustic blues, drawing on sparse yet textured arrangements built from organic, lived-in sounds. While the guitar and voice remain central, the atmosphere is enriched by tasteful, traditional instrumentation.

Previously known for his lo-fi, garage rock-tinged EPs, Roscó has since pivoted toward a deeper exploration of the American roots tradition, tracing a path from Charley Patton to Blind Lemon Jefferson, while filtering it all through the quiet wildness of the Irish coast.

His latest release is “One Dime Blues” (2025) which is a raw and intimate revival of Blind Lemon Jefferson’s 1920s classic, recorded with acoustic clarity and emotional grit. Built from a sparse, atmospheric arrangement, the track honors the original’s spirit without imitation, placing it firmly in the present.
