Susan Tomelty and Band

The Phil Lynott Stage at The Bloody Stream

Saturday August 12th at 2pm - FREE

Susan Tomelty, one of the finest singers to come out of N. Ireland, hails from Portaferry, Co. Down originally and her musical journey has brought her to Dublin via Leitrim, Scotland, France, Denmark, Sweden, Belfast and Nashville. Her passion is Rhythm & Blues. A blistering evening of funky Rhythm & Blues will ensue covering material from John Mayall & his Blues Breakers, Bonnie Raitt, Dylan, Koko Taylor, Red Peters, Muddy Waters, Freddy King, B B King, Aretha Franklin, Susan Tedeschi, originals and much more. The Susan Tomelty Band itself has had many terrific line-ups over the years and this year is no different.  On Electric Guitar, Brian Harris, on Bass Guitar and vocals, Tommy Moore,  on Drums, Paul McAteer, and a very special guest on piano/organ.  The band enjoyed playing in the iconic J J Smyths, Aungier Street, Dublin, the home of Blues and Jazz over the years.

With the release of “Belfast Live” cd in 1996 which celebrated peace in the north, she Supported Van Morrison, and sang for Nelson Mandela in Glasgow. The cd provided the soundtrack on BBC news for Clinton’s visit to N.Ireland. She has appeared on RTE, BBC and UTV performing tracks from Belfast Live cd. A Scandanavian tour followed, performing in Denmark and Sweden, finishing at The Gothenberg Festival.
